Yarl’s history begins with the creation of time itself. It was Yarl teh Gawd who brought the universe into existence and shaped the foundations of all life.
Many may ask why he created a universe that was not perfect from the beginning. The answer is simple: if everything were already perfect, there would be no possibility for growth, discovery, or progression. Every living being must experience life’s challenges, and our shared purpose is to become the greatest versions of ourselves.
Thousands of years passed before the Republic of Yarlistan was founded. Its creation occurred under mysterious circumstances, and to this day, no one knows exactly who established the Republic or how it came into existence. According to the ancient records, Yarlistan was founded approximately 2,100 years ago.
In 2015, Yarl was physically depicted for the first time. An anonymous user posted an image of him on 4chan and simultaneously proclaimed the prophecy that Yarl would one day replace Pepe the Frog.
The prophecy represents a more modern chapter in the eternal history of Yarl teh Gawd. Many people had grown tired of Pepe and began searching for a new figure to follow. This growing desire for change was the calling that caused Yarl to reveal his physical presence to the world.
Within the mythology of Yarlistan, Matt Furie—known as Yatt Furie—is said to have buried his own creation after Pepe became associated with political extremism and controversy. From the decline of Pepe arose the opportunity for Yarl to fulfil the prophecy and begin a new era.
